Running the first-of-its-kind multi-disciplinary educational platform in the region, Dubai College of Tourism (DCT) part of Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism, is the only vocational college in Dubai offering MOE approved programmes in Tourism, Events, Hospitality and Culinary Arts.
The College is committed to supporting the growth of the tourism industry in Dubai by providing quality vocational education that adds value to the individual student’s potential.
DCT offers certificate and advanced diploma courses in four core subject areas: tourism, hospitality, culinary arts and events, with its courses bridging the gap between in-house training and higher education, ensuring a steady stream of highly trained tourism professionals for the city. The programmes follow the National Qualifications Framework for the UAE (QFEmirates) and are approved by the Ministry of Education (NQC).
Aligned with the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33 launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai and the strategy set by the Department of Economy and Tourism, DCT works directly with Dubai’s tourism industry on providing fundamental training programmes specifically designed for those working within the tourism industry.

The scholarship program is a key component of the Dubai College of Tourism’s (DCT) strategy for retaining talent, enhancing access to higher education, and promoting the growth of the tourism sector in the United Arab Emirates. The DCT is dedicated to empowering exceptional students and inspiring them to pursue careers in the tourism sector.
DCT’s scholarship programs aim to make world-class education more accessible to deserving individuals and are in line with the goal of the Dubai Economic Agenda, D33, to integrate more Emiratis into the private sector and to support talented expatriate youth.
DCT is dedicated to promoting the tourism sector by offering top-notch vocational training that maximizes each student’s potential. Some of these scholarships include a 25% UAE Resident Scholarship, which is available to students who submit a copy of their grade 12 (or equivalent) high school graduation certificate from a UAE registered school or college, and the 25% UAE Nationals Scholarship, which is offered as part of Dubai Economy and Tourism’s ongoing effort to support UAE citizens working in the tourism sector.
Recently, DCT also announced its special Eid Al Adha Scholarship Programme for UAE residents and nationals. The Eid Al Adha scholarship is applicable to students who have strong academic and extracurricular performance in high school.
The Primary Obstacles Along the Way
A challenge which is also a huge opportunity, lies in the ever-evolving nature of the tourism industry and the need for DCT to adapt its courses to meet the changing demands of the market. By frequently refreshing its courses in tourism, events, hospitality, and culinary arts, DCT equips students with the necessary knowledge and practical skills to succeed in the dynamic tourism landscape.
Sustainability principles and responsible tourism practices are also key challenges that DCT addresses. The Key Executive: Essa Bin Hadher
Essa Bin Hadher, General Manager of Dubai College of Tourism, oversees all aspects of Dubai College of Tourism’s operation and curriculum. Essa started his current position at the Dubai College of Tourism in February 2016. It was established in 2017 under Dubai’s Department of Economy and Tourism (DET), the principal authority responsible for strengthening Dubai’s positioning as a world-leading tourism destination and commercial hub.
