Born out of fascination with the brain and frustration with traditional teaching methods, Brain Academy aims to reach and educate as many people as possible about the brain. It is a place where scientific research and self-improvement meet.
Over a decade ago, the field of neuroscience underwent rapid advancements, unveiling a new understanding of human behavior. However, this knowledge was often shrouded in scientific explanations and technical jargon, making it inaccessible to the public. Gregory Caremans, the visionary founder of Brain Academy, took on the challenge of demystifying brain science, making it comprehensible for all.
With his extensive background in behavioral neuroscience and psychology, Gregory Caremans has dedicated his entire career to exploring the intricacies of human behavior. His extensive experience, bolstered by a deep understanding of neuroplasticity and cognitive development, has uniquely positioned him as a leading figure in brain science and education. He is widely regarded as one of the world’s top brain coaches. As the architect of the Brain Academy, Gregory has imparted his expertise to a wide audience, ranging from educational professionals to individuals seeking to harness the full potential of their cognitive capabilities.
Under Gregory’s visionary leadership, Brain Academy offers various online courses, workshops, and programs. These courses empower individuals, helping them understand the intricacies of their brains and apply this knowledge to their daily lives. From parenting to habit change, overcoming procrastination to memory and learning, focus to dreams, and even shopping, Brain Academy covers a wide spectrum of topics. It also caters to professional needs, offering applications for stress management, leadership, and coaching.
Tackling Key Challenges
For Gregory, the main question was, how can brain science be attractive to the masses? Although a few university professors were teaching neurosciences online, their classes were very theoretical and boring. To address this issue, Gregory developed his own teaching methods by applying neuroscientific principles to teaching and learning. He also combined humor, pop culture, and the element of surprise with the actual neuroscience content, translating knowledge and insights into ready-to-use models and tools to help students deal with their real-life challenges.
Unique Content is Key
Brain Academy’s content is truly unique. When Gregory develops new content, he starts with his own research and seeks to create the best insights and tools possible. For example, Gregory created the very first online course about neuroplasticity worldwide. This caused a huge influx of students eager to learn about the power of neuroplasticity. Although many online creators have since copied Brain Academy’s content, sometimes even directly replicating Gregory’s work, he continuously updates and enhances Brain Academy’s courses with the latest research. This unwavering commitment ensures that Brain Academy remains at the forefront of brain science education.
The Flagship Program
Gregory launched his Brain Coach Certification Program a couple of years ago, which has now become Brain Academy’s flagship program. To create this program, Gregory started from scratch, ignoring existing programs and asking himself what kind of program he would have wanted at the beginning of his brain science journey. So, he took all his best insights, models, and tools to create the best program he could. Then, he combined that with a highly personal and intimate teaching style, which turned the program into a transformational journey. Although it took him a year to develop it, but it was worth it. In 2023, Life Coach Magazine recognized the program as the ‘Best Brain Coach Certification Program of the Year.’
The Issue with Mainstream Education
Gregory is deeply concerned about mainstream education. He frequently discusses this issue with his students, many of whom are teachers from around the world, and they confirm that it is a global problem.
Despite our extensive knowledge of the brain, Gregory finds it alarming how many mistakes are still being made in education. He feels that the education system was designed without keeping the best interest of kids in mind. Gregory’s biggest wish is to see brain science principles more widely applied in children’s education. This would eventually lead to healthier and happier kids, higher motivation levels, and better outcomes, ultimately benefiting society as a whole.
Picture of the Future
Gregory wants to bring Brain Academy mainstream, believing that understanding the brain would benefit everyone. To achieve this, he is planning to expand Brain Academy’s free content on social media, especially on YouTube, to reach and positively impact as many people as possible.
Additionally, Gregory envisions taking Brain Academy to the real world by creating workshops, events, and possibly even classes on a global scale. His dream is to have Brain Academy schools all over the world, help local communities integrate brain science into their everyday lives, and even influence politicians and their decision-making to take brain science and brain health into account while passing new legislation.
