Trump vs Harvard Battle

The Trump vs Harvard Battle : Trump Threatens Harvard of its Tax-exempt Status

US President Donald Trump now threatened to strip Harvard University of its tax-exempt status. This news has intensified the ongoing war between the nation’s old university and the federal government.

The White House took this step after Harvard University rejected a series of policy changes asked for by Trump, including major shifts in admissions, hiring, and also the curriculum.

As per the resources, Donald Trump became angry after the media coverage of Harvard’s defiance and decided to increase the pressure.

While the officials of the White House said that the IRS will make decisions on tax-exempt matters independently, Trump has shown his commitment to taking on Harvard. If the university loses its nonprofit status, it will have to pay billions of dollars over time.

Sharing his view on Truth Social, Trump posted, “Perhaps Harvard University should lose its Tax Exempt Status and pay taxes as a Political organization if it will promote political ideologies and terrorist-inspired sickness.

Freezing $2.3 Billion in Federal Funding

US President Donald Trump’s campaign to pressure universities into dropping diversity, equity, and inclusion measures and punishing student protesters has faced its strongest pushback yet after Harvard University rejected the demands from his administration. After this decision, the US Department of Education froze around $2.3 billion in federal funding from the Ivy League institution, which is among the best universities in the US.

The Demands of Trump  from Harvard:

  • A letter was sent claiming that Harvard has failed to live up to both the intellectual and civil rights conditions that justify federal investment.
  • Reducing the power of faculty and administrators who are moving into activism rather than scholarship
  • Changing the admission process to prevent admitting global students who hostile to the US values
  • Changing disciplinary policies and stopping the funding of student groups involved in illegal violence and harassment
  • Implementing a complete mask ban after several students have protested wearing masks.
  • Closing all DEI programs and offices.
